Define the duty point

Record the required flow, total dynamic head, static lift, pipe route, fittings and operating cycle at the actual operating condition. Use the duty point and the applicable pump curve together; motor power alone is not a selection basis.

Describe the liquid and solids

State liquid temperature, pH, density, solids size and concentration, abrasiveness, fibers and gas or air if relevant. Do not assume clean-water data applies to a changed liquid.

Match the application and hydraulic type

Separate wastewater, general drainage, slurry, clean-water or deep-well duty, then compare channel, vortex, cutter, grinder, agitator or multistage options only against the stated solids and head. The label does not replace an application review.

Check immersion, cooling and installation

Confirm minimum and maximum immersion, start/stop levels, whether the motor is cooled at the proposed water level, outlet connection, guide-rail or portable arrangement, lifting points and cable route. Follow the model manual for allowable operating conditions.

Confirm the electrical configuration

Provide voltage, phase, frequency, starting method or VFD, cable length, protection, controls and site grounding requirements. A configuration or curve at one frequency is not a performance claim at another.

Request written model-level confirmation

Send the duty point, liquid and solids description, application, installation and electrical details with the proposed model or series. Ask for written confirmation of the exact model, configuration, curve basis, materials, protection and documentation before issuing a purchase specification.

Plan maintenance access

Check how the pump is lifted, isolated, inspected and cleaned, and how wear parts, seals, cables and control components are reached. Treat access, spare parts and manual availability as part of the selection; do not infer service intervals or life without model documentation.
